Sands Macau
Sands Macau, which opened in May 2004, is situated in the heart of the Macau Peninsula in Mainland China, which is quickly becoming one of the foremost gambling destinations in the world.
This positioning provides easy access to the hotel and casino resort, which is just five minutes from Macau Terminal Ferry, which is part of the transportation network to the rest of Mainland China and the island of Hong Kong.
The open-plan interior design of Sands Macau is primarily aimed at Asian clientele, and the Las Vegas Sands hotel-casino chain, which owns and developed the resort, has extensive experience in both land and ship-based casinos in Malaysia, Cambodia, Hong Kong and Indonesia.
This meant that the corporation was already well grounded in Asian practices, games and play, as well as being able to find and train topnotch Asian staff without any difficulty.
Sands Macau Hotel offers 289 beautifully furnished and decorated rooms with panoramic views of the ocean and city.
The features found in the luxury suites include:
- Custom-made hand-woven carpets
- State-of-the-art entertainment centres with plasma televisions and modern audiovisual equipment.
- Designer furnishings
- Ornate bathrooms with separate standing shower units and Jacuzzi hot tubs.
Sands Macau also boasts two award-winning restaurants – the Golden Court and Moonlight Market – as well as the Las Vegas-style Copa Steak House and the Macanese eatery Restaurant Perola.
Sands Macau Casino
In 2006 the casino at Sands Macau was expanded, increasing its floor space from 165 000 to 229 000 square feet, making it one of the largest casinos in the world. It now offers almost 750 gaming tables.
