Casinos in Chile

Casinos in Chile can be found in 10 of the cities and towns along this thin stretch of South America’s western coastline.

Although there are not too many casinos in Chile, those present certainly make up for the lack of quantity.

It is likely that in the near future Chile will be welcoming a host of new hotel and casino resorts. If all goes to plan, a significant number of the 17 casino licences currently under consideration will soon be granted, paving the way for a major expansion of the number of casinos in Chile.

Chile currently has just over a dozen casinos and hotel and casino resorts, the largest of which is the Viña del Mar Casino in the city of the same name.

Viña del Mar Casino houses over 1 500 video gaming and slot machines, as well as almost 100 table games, and is reputed to welcome a whopping 8 000 players through its doors every single night!

Chile’s capital, Santiago, is home to 2 casinos, as is the city of Coquimbo, while the coastal town of Arica boasts the Casino de Arica and is a major port of call for a number of Caribbean casino cruise ships.

Other casinos in Chile include the Hotel del Lago Resort and Casino in Pucon; Casino Puerto Varas in Puerto Varas; and Casino Iquique in Iquique.

Pari-Mutuel betting is also very popular in Chile, especially in the form of horse and dog racing, with over 6 horseracing tracks dotted around the country from Santiago to Viña del Mar.

Travel Information

Like most of South America, Chile’s people are, by and large, extremely friendly. While Spanish speakers will find the going easy, don’t fear if you are not familiar with the local lingo – English will see you through most situations, although learning a couple of useful Spanish phrases will immediately raise your stock with any locals you talk to, not to mention staff at the casinos in Chile!
