British woman jailed for casino heists

A 21 year old British woman is in hot water after embroiling herself in a credit card fraud scam involving several casinos in Florida.

Holly Clark got involved with a ring of 6 credit card fraudsters during a trip to the United States, and assisted them in obtaining cash advances from local casinos using stolen credit card numbers.

Police detectives were sent a report of  credit card fraud in February when a man reported a suspicious $3,107 charge on his credit card at the Foxwoods casino. The man told police that he had never been to Connecticut and still had the credit card.

Casino surveillance cameras automatically capture all cash transcations in excess of $3000, and this footage was promptly used to identify Holly Clark, who was already under investigation for fraudulent activity.

“She is not the ringleader,” said defence attorney Kevin Barrs. “Unfortunately for Holly, she got caught holding the bag.”

Clark was served with an 18 month prison sentence for four counts of 4th degree larceny in December, and will be deported from the United States, thereby losing her right to return to the country.
