Bad boy goes wild in Las Vegas
Californian smut producer Joe Francis is in hot water with the Wynn Resort after a $2.5 million check owed to the casino bounced earlier this year.
The 35 year old, famous for producing Girls Gone Wild, and a series of spin-offs which captured college girls at parties baring their breasts, has made a fortune off publishing footage banned by broadcasting censors.
He is also partial to visits to sin city, where he has racked up millions of dollars in gambling debts, and is now set to face felony and fraud charges for failing to pay off debts to the Wynn casino.
"They're using the criminal justice system to extract a civil settlement," Francis said. "Their allegation is absurd."
The Las Vegas district attorney doesn't agree and is pressing charges and looking to issue a warrant for Francis' arrest.
Francis, however, has provided evidence he wrote out a valid cheque to the Wynn earlier in the year, and that the casino failed to withdraw its funds before he closed his Wells Fargo checking account.
Nevertheless, with the $2.5 million debt still outstanding, the district attorney is set to move ahead with pressing charges.
"In my estimation, this case is no different than any other case," said Chief Deputy District Attorney Bernie Zadrowksi.
